BlackBerry Classic - Email - Manual configuration - Step 1

To set up email on your BlackBerry Classic you will need:

  • An email account at an internet or email provider.
  • Login details of the incoming and outgoing mail servers.
  • An active internet connection, if needed click here for instructions.

    Click Next for instructions on setting up email.

  • Go to the Start screen.
  • Scroll to the right.

  • Choose Settings.

  • Choose Accounts.

  • If this screen appears, choose Add Account.
  • If this screen does not appear, go to the next step.

  • Choose Advanced.

  • Choose IMAP.

  • Under Description, enter Email via Proximus
  • Under Your Name, enter your name
  • Under Username, enter the username of your email account

  • Scroll down.
  • Under Email Address, enter your email address
  • Under Password, enter the password of your email account

  • Scroll down.
  • Under Server Address, enter imap.proximus.be
  • Under Port, enter 993

  • Scroll down.
  • Under Encryption, choose SSL.
  • Note: after you have chosen a Encryption, the value under Port can change. Make sure that 993 has been entered under Port.

  • Scroll down.
  • Under SMTP Username, enter the username of your email account
  • Under SMTP Password, enter the password of your email account
  • Under SMTP Server Address, enter relay.proximus.be

  • Under SMTP Port, enter 587
  • Under SMTP Encryption, choose STARTTSL (or TSL).
  • Note: after you have chosen a SMTP Encryption, the value under SMTP Port can change. Make sure that 587 has been entered under SMTP Port.

  • Scroll down.
  • Disable one or more options.
  • Under Sync Interval, choose an option.
  • Under Sync Timeframe, choose an option.

  • Under Roaming Data Control, choose an option.
  • Under Mobile Data Control, choose an option.
  • Under Wi-Fi Data Control, choose an option.

  • Choose Done.

  • The information will be verified.
  • If an error message is displayed, verify the settings and choose Done.

  • The e-mail account has been configured and is ready for use.
  • Return to the Start screen.

  • Start screen.
  • Switch off the BlackBerry Classic and restart it in order to activate the settings.
  • E-mail setup successful? Proceed with sending e-mails.
